We stayed in Coles Creek state park which is located in Caryle Lake, Illinois from July 28 - 31, 2017. This was a park we had reservations in before, but because of earlier flooding, we cancelled and decided to try again after the rains stopped and it dried out. This is a Corp of Engineer park and have found them to be a bit nicer than some of the other parks. We have only stayed in one corps park but have visited others on our journeys.
Our spot was about 10 feet from the side of the lake, and it was gorgeous and quiet. We loved sitting out there enjoying the sunset and watching the birds on the lake.
