We spent the better part of five days at Harrington Beach State Park, Belgium Wisconsin. We were here July 8 - 13, 2018.
It was great to visit with friends while there. Kim met up with her daughters friend from ice skating, Kristina Sit. The last time she saw Kristina was 15 years ago.
We got to visit Belgium, Wisconsin, and a pioneer village. Too bad the pioneer village is only open on some weekends and only during summer festivals. We stopped by Stony Hill roadside school, this school started the first flag day. We visited Cedarburg, Wisconsin, which had a great wine tasting place. Of course we always buy a bottle of wine. We got a tour of Port Washington, Wisconsin. Since we visited with friends most of the time, we got to eat out a lot and at friends homes.
We all stopped at a quilting museum, I did not go in, but Kim and Debbie had a blast.
We spent a few hours at Lake Michigan, there is a small beach but it is nice and not crowded. The water was freezing cold and not sure how anyone can swim there.
There is a man made quarry lake, which we strolled around to pass the afternoon.
Our friend Debbie was a tour guide showing us around her past haunts and the local area.
Harrington Beach State park has a very nice shower and bathroom facility. They advertise the areas as shaded, but there are no trees. It is tall marsh grass, but the sites are spaced far enough apart to provide plenty of privacy and quiet.
There is no WiFi, so we had to use our phone hot-spot to get any kind of reception. We were able to pick up about 20 TV channels. There is only 30 / 50 amp electric on the sites, but they work well and are newer. You have to fill up with fresh water at the main loop. I think the dump station and fresh water should be separated a bit more. They are too close and should be switched around.
