Redstone, Colorado

August 13, 2018

Dispersed camping is the term used for camping anywhere in the National Forest OUTSIDE of a designated campground. Dispersed camping means no services; such as trash removal, and little or no facilities; such as tables and fire pits, are provided. Some popular dispersed camping areas may have toilets.

We have arrived in Colorado. We spent 5 days doing what is called dispersed camping. We talked to the forest service office whom sent us a map of the available sites, or locations that would accommodate our trailer. We were in Redstone, Colorado from 9 to 13 August 2018.

Redstone, Colorado has a population of about 130. It was a small town, but often busy during the day with tourists.  We loved the dispersed camping, we were all alone by ourselves among the peace and quiet.  The only visitors we had were birds and marmots.

Occasionally a car or truck would drive by and go to the end of the forest and return.

We hope someone reads our post and will be able to install solar panels and deep cycle RV batteries as well as an inverter / converter.
